Our Dentist and Practice Staff

Our dentists and hygienists work closely together to provide a high level of care for our patients and regularly attend courses to keep abreast of new developments.

 

Our experienced practice staff offer excellent support to our clinical team in the management of our comprehensive treatment protocols.

Introducing our Dentists:

Dr Patrick Oxbrough
BDSc MRACDS (GDP)

 

Graduated University of Melbourne 1994
Completed Membership with Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons 2013.
Fellow, International Team for Implantology.

 

Patrick has been the Principal Dentist at Battery Point Dental Practice for the last 12 years. He has a special interest in all aspects of implant dentistry, the treatment of periodontal (gum) diseases and in the provision of cutting-edge preventive dentistry.

Liesl grew up in South Australia and has been living in Hobart since the start of 2012. She graduated from the Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Adelaide University in 2011 with an Australian Dental Association award for Outstanding Professional Conduct. She has been working at Battery Point Dental Practice since 2012.

 

Liesl understands attending the dentist can be daunting and focuses on ensuring each patient has a comfortable experience. Liesl focuses on preventive dentistry and also has a special interest in cosmetic restorative dentistry and minor oral surgery. 


Liesl is passionate about Tasmania and its beauty and loves exploring the state as much as possible in her free time. Liesl is a keen gardener and has recently started quilt making. 

 

Dr Tegan Hancock

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Tegan graduated from Griffith University in Queensland with awards for academic excellence. After undergoing a decade of more complex dental work herself (and having always been an anxious patient in the dental chair), Tegan understands the need to provide a very caring and gentle approach whilst providing high quality dentistry. Furthermore, she is forever committed to advancing her knowledge in all things health-related through continuing education. Tegan regularly attends to courses/seminars to be able to best help her patients achieve optimal oral and general health.

In her recreational time, Tegan loves to be outdoors, whether it be hiking, kayaking or rock climbing. She also enjoys drawing/art, building furniture, trying her luck in gymnastics and circus training and playing a tune or two on the ukulele!

 

Introducing our Dental Hygienists:

 

Our three Dental Hygienists are very valuable members of our team. They are trained to provide tailored preventive programs for our patients. Each of our Hygienists complete countless hours of continuing education every year to stay up to date with the best preventive care for their patients.

Originally from Geelong, Victoria, Colleen joined BPDP in January 2013.

 

Holding qualifications in Dental Hygiene, Dental Therapy and Orofacial Myology, Colleen brings a wealth of experience to the BPDP team and to her patients.


Colleen is passionate about preventive dental health, and is committed to helping her patients achieve the best outcomes and long term benefits for their dental and related general health.

 

Over the past 30 years, Colleen has worked in both general and specialist dental practices in the public and private sectors, and enjoys working with patients of all ages.  Her special interest areas include childhood jaw growth and development, thumb sucking, airways and sleep apnoea.

Proudly Hobart 'born and bred' Georgina studied in South Australia and graduated with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2002.

 

Georgina worked for three years in Hobart before moving to beautiful Switzerland for eight years where she worked in the German speaking part of Switzerland. After a short stint living in the charming New Forest in England, she settled permanently back in Tasmania in 2014 before commencing work here at Battery Point Dental in April 2015.

 

Georgina is dedicated to enhancing the dental health and overall health of patients. Georgina is currently studying a unit within Health Science at UTAS and is always on the lookout for ways to improve systemic health with a focus on prevention and improvement of the oral environment.

 

Michael Charlton-Fitzgerald

Bachelor of Oral Health

Born in Newcastle, Michael attended the University of Newcastle and graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2014. Michael spent the following 3 and a half years working in private practice in North Queensland before making the move to Hobart.

 

Michael is dedicated to helping patients develop and maintain a healthy oral hygiene routine and has a keen interest in nutrition and how this can affect the oral cavity as well as a person's overall health.

 

In his spare time Michael enjoys anything that involves getting outdoors and exploring, whether it be through sport, hiking, mountain biking, or rock climbing.


 

Alice Byrne
Practice Manager

Alice has worked at Battery Point Dental Practice for over 9 years. In this time she has completed her Certificates III and IV in Dental Assisting, Forensic Dentistry for the Dental Assistant, Certificate IV in Human Resources and a Diploma of Leadership and Management. 

 

Alice is always working to further her own skills and to maintain a high level of care throughout the practice.
